Dinosaurs and Zombies; 1-22-14

I went to sleep...

At first, it was sheer pandemonium. People were everywhere, not knowing where to go or what to do. I'm not even sure where I was, to be honest. Maybe in a school? It had some of those unusual stairwells you find in such establishments. Speaking of such stairwells, I saw a woman in a bit of a sticky situation. She was stuck inside, and couldn't get the door open to the main part of the building. Luckily, I was able to pry it open from my side. We made it outdoors not long after this incident. In thanks, she gave me her coat. It was clear she was in the military, although I couldn't tell which branch. The coat was olive green, and adorned with badges she had earned. I put it on, and it fit perfect. She said something about catching a flight, and left me there. It was still pandemonium outside, and now I was alone.

Oddly enough, there was a strange military compound not far from this unusual school. Wanting to know what was going on (as it was also in said pandemonium), I approached it. I got my update on the situation, but sadly, not the way I wanted it. They mistook me for someone in the service and dragged me inside. I wasn't able to get a word out before I was assigned to a team. For some reason, I didn't complain. I guess I wanted to help any way I could. I'm not sure what was going through my mind. Anyways, the commander of this team updated me on what was happening, as I was hoping. This is where it got weird, and quickly.

Apparently, someone had been doing experiments, and there were mass amounts of strange, carnivorous dinosaurs on the loose. When I say mass, I mean mass. These critters were everywhere. I'm also gathering if they bit someone without completely devouring them, this person would turn into a zombie-like creature. Not only that, if the zombiesaurs were in the light, they gained some form of super-speed. All in all, it seemed I had been warped into a badly-written Sy-Fy film. Once again, I didn't question what was going on (although, I really should have). Instead, I geared up as best as I could, and prepared myself to help clear the US of the dino-zombie invasion.

We (somehow) made it to a large building in the middle of the compound, which we needed to secure. Considering our team consisted of six or seven members, I'm not sure how we did it. Anyways, we prepared ourselves to go inside, knowing it would be riddled with both dinos and zombies. The commander asked if anyone wanted to follow beside him and lead the assault. Well, obviously I had taken a stupid pill before-hand, because I volunteered. When we got inside, it wasn't too bad. A stray zombie here and there, and one dino, but that was about it. Luckily I'm a pretty good shot, so I was able to help more than I thought.

It was in a room full of metal lockers that we decided to take a break. It didn't last long, though, as they break was eventful. Civilians were in the building, and had found us. The hustle from their excitement drew in another dino, which either ate the civilians or turned them into zombies before we could take it out. (It was a friggin' big dino. Don't judge us.)

From here, we left the room and continued up into a building. This is where we ran into an... unusual issue. Another one of the group commanders was leading his own team. Only, he was alive, and they were dead. They weren't zombies (at least not the dino-turned type). Instead, they were wired with electronics. He said he didn't need us anymore since he had a superior team, and proceeded to shoot us down. I fell over, looking like I had been shot down, when I had not. Some of the others had taken cover, including our commander, and a few others were actually dead. In the time I laid there, I watched his dead troops. There was one with a baseball-sized orb inside it's chest, glowing red. I leaned up as quick as I could, shot it there, and ALL of his dead troops dropped to the ground. Surprised, the commander of the dead troops fled, and we who were still alive followed him.

It turned out he had a massive room full of these weird, undead guys. They were in some unusual racks which were stacked to the ceiling, not activated yet, and all with one containing an orb. Luckily, we now knew how to take them down now. As he tried to murder us by releasing more and more of them, we took down groups one by one, simply by shooting the red-orbed leader. We managed to get out of there, and back outside.

Things weren't any better out there. There was about four of us now. We found some vehicles, and drove away from this place, as fast as we could. As well as we were doing in the one building, the rest was completely compromised. The US had mostly turned into a vast wasteland, covered with dirt and sand. Most places were inhabited with dinos and zombies, with no human life to be seen. It was quite disheartening.

Once we found a small settlement of human life, we had to stop and check on them. At this point, I picked up a small, orange kitten who was wandering around with the group. They said I could have him, and I gladly accepted the offer. One of the men who was in our small group began talking about the dog they had on base. It was a blind German shepherd, and everyone loved it. Oddly enough, it turned out the civilians had this shepherd and were taking care of it. We took it back into our small group, not even thinking how it could be a burden. We were just glad to see it.

...and then I woke up.
